June 15, 2015 -- Summer Solstice
Choosing to see (my) struggles simply as lessons has helped me open up to a more abundant life. Connie's Story, Money Stories
Hi Friends
Summer Solstice is a special time for me. It feels like an especially good time for healing and manifesting. This year it's on Sunday, 6/21. I love to celebrate it with a little ceremony and I'm thinking I'll use the following three elements --earth, air and fire--in my ceremony.
First, I'll make prayer ties, which are made from little squares of fabric that are traditionally filled with a natural tobacco. I add lavender and/or corn meal as well as prayers for family, friends, people who need healing for physical ails or life struggles, for places and people who have been involved in natural and other disasters, anyone who comes to mind while I'm tying these packages, and for me. My teachers taught that prayer ties should be hung outside so breezes can help manifest the request. When I make ties I feels like I'm helping people around me and the planet. (Earth and air)
Second, I like to burn any prayer requests from my altar (if you have any requests email them to me so they can sit on my altar a few days before burning). I've been amazed to hear from people whose names have been on my altar that their circumstance has changed for the better or their healing has been quick after a prayer request.
Third, I'll end with a little drumming. Drumming calms me and makes me feel mindful and grounded.
Over the years doing ceremony at Summer or Winter Solstice, or Spring or Fall Equinox my personal requests seem to be more quickly manifested. Healing energy passes more easily between our world and the spirit world, making it a great time for ceremony.
If you decide to do your own ceremony it doesn't have to be a major project. It can be as simple as sitting in silence a moment or two, burning a candle, making a list of what you are ready to release, pulling a divination card or several, doing something creative, or being out in nature. Oh, and have fun while you are at it!
My wish is for wonderful ceremonial times this summer. And I wish each of you peace on your journey into the great and wonderful unknown.

" I saw a map of the United States with the large cities marked... a zigzag line across, coast to coast and border to border, from Los Angeles to New York City. I knew what I was to do. And that was a vision of my first year's pilgrimage route in 1953!" Peace Pilgrim, Money Stories
Hi Friends
I just received an email newsletter from my friend Don Clarkson. In it he was talking about whether “The Good Old Days" were or were not they such good old days. And it got me thinking about the negativity we all hear and even at times experience. I make every effort to be positive and keep my energy as clean and clear and positive as possible, but occasionally we all get pulled off our center.
We often hear on the news and from people around us how bad things are or how high prices are or how much cheaper prices were last year, or 2, 10, or 20 years ago. I've heard from a number of people how expensive the new health insurance is turning out to be. If you're like me, adding another expense, especially if it's several hundred dollars a month, when you don't have any extra, is huge. And other prices have gone up, too.
In Don's email he mentioned wishing we could go back to the slow and fun 1950's (but there were bomb scares, people were building bomb shelters, and there was fear of the Russians coming to invade). Or there was the fabulous music and art of Renaissance Europe (but Christians were fighting Muslims and Muslims fighting Christians). The flappers of the 1920's and 30's came to mind for me (but there was the depression and so many people out of work). Every time period looks good later but maybe not so good being there.
What can we do? The Law of Attraction tells us that if we want something we need to inhabit it's vibration, as if it's ours already, before we can draw it in. In other words, if you want to be able to handle the additional insurance costs “know” and “see” in your heart that the money is already there. If you worry about your or your family's safety, see and feel yourself safe.
The Law of Attraction does not mean you'll never be faced with problems, but that how you react to problems will be different. I like to think of the problems as “what can I learn from this experience? Or how can I get through this without being knocked off my center? Or if despite working to be positive, I am knocked off my center or I react, how can I bring myself back into balance and to center? Here are a few suggestions I've tried and work for me:
1. Pull a tarot or other oracle card to help answer your question about the meaning or lessons of a difficult experience.
2. Talk the situation over with a friend. Listen carefully to what your friend has to say and then sit with their suggestions to see if more wisdom pokes it's head out.
3. One of my favorite ways to work through an issue is to “talk to it” and ask what lessons can be learned. You might be surprised what you can learn--even though some will think you are crazy!
4. Ask for a dream to shed light on an experience. This can help you stay more centered.
5. Make a vision board/treasure map or a vision card focused on the experience. This can helpful and may keep us from reacting again or continuing to be stuck in the energetics of problematic experiences.
6. Wait a day or two or longer and then look at the situation again and see how time effects what seemed so problematic.
7. Pray and/or meditate about the situation. Walking meditation works wonders when I'm stuck!
Good luck!
My wish each of us be able to stay balanced and centered this year as we walk into the great and wonderful unknown.
