MONEY $tories How Money & Spirit Combine to Create Abundance by Bev Martin, "inner active," bevmartin.com Reading this book felt like sitting down with Connie Carmichael Hill and the people she interviewed, for intimate and interesting conversations about Money and Spirit. Each interview went deep and provided food for thought between 'visits.' This is an interesting, multi-layered book- which gives one the opportunity to get curious about our own 'story' about abundance, providence, support, generosity and perhaps, whether the story we have is the story we want. Thought provoking, and refreshing.Bev Martin, "inner active," bevmartin.com. Money Stories: How Money and Spirit Combine to Create Abundance Reviewed By Michele Biehler, MBA
Totally enjoyed reading this book. I carried it with me on a recent trip. I found you can pick it up and just read a chapter without following any particular order -which worked well during plane rides as well as sitting in various airports. I mainly read nonfiction and work in the financial world. Ms Hill does an excellent job of sharing the view point of money from several different perspectives through her interviews. Money holds power for all of us and we all have different thoughts around it. During this time of global economic challenges I found Ms Hill's stories provided me with reflective thoughts around how I view money and ways to shift negative thoughts into positive intentions for utilizing the energy called money. This is an easy read and a thoughtful narrative. I hope you'll also take the time to enjoy this book |
Money Stories Review by Marie Friend, author of Star:
Does money come easily to you, or do you struggle to make ends meet? Frankly I had never given much thought to the question until reading this book. Of course like most of us I’ve had my ups and downs with money in my life but even when the purse was empty and the piggy bank yielded nary a penny, it seems that I’ve managed to keep a roof over my head and food on the table. Money Stories is a very clever book as it’s written in the form of interviews between the author and various people who have become successful in their chosen business fields. It’s smoothly written and the kind of book that you can thumb through reading a bit at a time but still get ‘food for thought’ from what you’ve read. By focusing on the relationship between right brain thinking (logic) with left brain (spiritual) thinking, the people interviewed have accomplished their goals and made money in the process. They are success stories. Ms. Hill introduces her story by relating her own struggles with money in relationship to her thought processes at a particular time in her life. “Most of my life I’ve wished I had better control of money, wished I could manifest it more easily, wished I didn’t struggle so much with it.” Ending her Introduction she declares that “Choosing to see the struggles simply as lessons as helped me open up to a more abundant life.” (p.14) Most of the contributors to Money Stories have the same philosophy of Spirituality and down to earth common sense with each other. They tell their particular experiences as to how they arrived at combining their spiritual way of thinking into a comfortable and satisfying profession. Releasing Struggles (p. 81) particularly resonated with my own thoughts regarding the importance of money. The interviewee, Lewis Mehl-Madrona is introduced as an author and teacher of behavioral complexities at a university in Vermont. In answer to the question “Do you see a connection between money and spirituality in your life?’ he answers, “I think the spiritual part is letting go of the attachment.” In other words, Let go and Let God. Money Stories will give you a lot to think about as to your own desires, your own ’attachment’ to whatever you think is important in your life. Do you want to have millions and all the trappings that go with having it such as Power, Greed, Control? Or do you want to have enough to be able to give it to the needy of this world; feed the homeless, rebuild broken lives and/ or find a cure for incurable diseases? In other words, do you think of money as being a part of your spiritual well-being – or do you indulge in ‘stinking thinking.’ MARIE FRIEND author of Star |
